MK April 17
From the Editor
By now the weather has (hopefully) started to warm up and with it brings a growth-spurt to weeds. Weekends will soon start to fill with the distant hum of lawn mowers and that smell of freshly cut grass will fill the air and scream “summer’s here!” I can’t wait! If you aren’t sure what you should be doing in the garden this month, our resident expert gardener David Williams offers his top-tips.
April is all about food, as the Northampton Food Festival returns to Beckets Park in May. We have a family ticket to give away to this delicious day out. Althorp House in Northamptonshire also sees the return of its Food & Drink Festival and we are giving two lucky readers the chance to win Festival tickets and a House Tour.
With Easter just around the corner I thought the chocoholics amongst us would appreciate a luxurious Easter Egg. So, we have teamed up with Hotel Chocolat to offer you the chance to win a Mint Hard-Boiled Egg, and it looks divine.Keeping with the #MK50 theme, we hear from local resident Joyce Fennell who arrived in Milton Keynes as a young bride in 1976. Joyce shares with us how Milton Keynes has shaped her life over the past 40 years.
Meanwhile John Best takes a closer look at a great piece of design in Milton Keynes, that touches most of us every day, consciously or unconsciously. An oasis of peace and tranquillity in Milton Keynes, but also the focus of a lot of activity, both human and natural. It is of course the canal network – in our part of the world the Grand Union Canal. Living, sparkling heritage.
As well as the latest news, we have our regular Sudoku, Crossword and Horoscopes. The MPs have been out and about, while fashion expert Cindy Hudson talks all things gingham and Jordan Adcock reviews the latest films.
Have a great Easter everyone and I’ll see you in May.
