MK April 18
From the Editor
And welcome to April!
As reported here last month, Action4Youth has launched the region’s first specially adapted power boat, which offers young wheelchair users and those with high dependency needs, the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of water sports without the need to leave their chairs. The vision of the innovative Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes charity is to give all young people the opportunity to discover what more they can achieve. The launch event at the Action4Youth Caldecotte Xperience was attended by Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) students from The Redway School, local VIPs and Year 6 pupils from Great Linford Primary School, who unveiled their winning name for the new boat ‘The Wheel of Opportunity’. I was delighted to accept an invitation to the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards held at stadium:mk. Compèred by Olympic medallist and local resident, the vivacious Gail Emms MBE, the ceremony celebrated businesses of all sizes and sectors; from sole traders and start-ups to large corporations and regional organisations. Congratulations to all the winners! See page 53 for details of the categories and winners.
We have a packed magazine for you this month, so make a cuppa, put your feet up and enjoy!
Have a great April! Hopefully the weather will start to warm up soon!
