The seasons will be changing soon. Are you looking forward to Halloween and Bonfire Night already? Here are some autumn marketing ideas for your business.
Autumn themes for your website – anticipating what’s to come and reflecting the changing seasons is an easy way to attract your customers’ attention in a positive way. Make sure your content is relevant and useful alongside your stunning seasonal scenes.
Depending on your business you can add a seasonal call to action for your autumn/winter catalogue or remind people to stock up on supplies. You could even create a new product or service suited to the time of year or a special offer on a curated collection of products.
Small Business Saturday – take part in Small Business Saturday on 3 December. You can start sharing what you’re doing with other local businesses on social media and you might get some air time on radio or television. It’s a great way to encourage more people to ‘buy local’.
Run a photograph competition – autumn has plenty of potential for stunning photographs. Almost everyone has a good quality camera on their smartphone, so no special equipment is needed. Why not run a competition and choose one or more winning entries for your Christmas cards, calendar or promotional products for 2023?
You can encourage people to share and comment on social media – it could be the beginning of a real sense of community amongst your customers. Make your prizes autumn-themed and relevant to your business so they are really memorable.
Time limited offers – a sense of urgency always encourages people to take action, so create some very special offers that are limited to a specific day or week during the autumn season or while stock lasts. Focus on your best-selling products or services to make sure you appeal to a wide audience and make sure they will feel you’re offering excellent value for money.
Hold a themed Halloween sale – even if your products aren’t seasonal, you can still tap in to everyone’s sense of fun with some hauntingly good offers and scarily good sales deals. You could even hold a pop-up sale of a product you’re thinking of introducing to test people’s interest.
Plan your newsletter – if you want to make a ‘bang!’ with your customers why not send your email newsletter in time for Bonfire Night with some on-theme messages about safety or noise for example?
Run a ‘deal-of-the-week’ campaign – run a series of special offers to tempt people to make an additional purchase and help them to save money at the same time. If you run a subscription service you could offer a special discount when people sign up. Ideally choose items that you know your audience will value but which won’t cost you too much to provide.
Back-to-school ideas – from suggestions for healthy snacks and packed lunches to school uniforms or after-school activities, there’s plenty of potential to catch the attention of busy parents at this time of year.
Use all your channels – engaging with your audience can take some time and effort, so be consistent with your images and offers across all your online and offline channels. Make it easy for people to move from one channel to another with links and QR codes included in your leaflets and printed advertising, for example.
Share autumn-related ideas – not all your marketing has to be about selling. You can also share useful information and advice that will show you are an expert who wants to help people enjoy the autumn with seasonal recommendations for food, fashion or gardening – whatever’s relevant to your business.
Run a countdown to Black Friday – there’s no sign that the popularity of Black Friday and Cyber Monday is slowing down. Start a weekly countdown with pre-sales updates about discounts and offers to build some excitement and interest.
